Very intense and charged color, aroma of great complexity with notes of black fruit and spices (black pepper, green, cloves). Mineral and elegant finish with a slight note of coffee and cigar. Batuta is a wine of extremes. Of all Niepoort wines, this is the one that shows a more discreet characteristics; the tannins are present but are very fine, the aroma is very rich and intense but never exuberant. It is full of concentration, typical of the old Douro vineyards, but it always shows itself as fresh and elegant. The base of this wine is the Carril vineyard, over 70 years old, located on a north-facing slope, which allows for slow and balanced maturation. It also comes from other old vines (about 100 years old) close to Quinta de Nápoles, the Batuta is the result of a delicate vinification, with macerations taken to the limit, where all details are taken into account to obtain this great, complex, fine and elegant wine.
