The 2008 Barca Velha has a deep ruby colour. Its aroma is intense and of excellent complexity, with emphasis on fresh red fruits, spices such as pepper and cloves, balsamic notes of cedar, resin and tobacco box. Also noteworthy are the notes of asparagus, artichokes and the aromas of excellent quality wood in perfect harmony. In the mouth it is voluminous, with lively acidity and well integrated. Its finish is extraordinarily long, elegant and harmonious.
Casa Ferreirinha, acquired by Sogrape Vinhos in 1987, and its wines are synonymous with time and art. Thus, the Barca Velha was created, an unquestionable symbol of the highest quality of Douro wines. Classic, intense, complex and elegant, these are the adjectives that describe what has been, since its creation in 1952, the most famous Portuguese wine. The Barca Velha is the foundation on which Casa Ferreirinha’s reputation grew, being declared in truly exceptional years.
